Requiescant in pace

With deep sadness, we have learned the unexpected death of our dominican brother, Bishop Robert Christian O.P.
Fr. Robert was auxiliary bishop of San Francisco. A faithful and brilliant servant of the Church, he had warmly encouraged our work during his last visit to the Ecole with the ARCIC in May. May he rest in the Peace of the Lord!

We were also moved to learn of the death of Father Pierre Lenhardt on 1 July 2019.
Born on 5 November 1927 in Strasbourg, he entered the Congregation of the Religious of Notre-Dame de Sion in 1963. After studying philosophy, theology and ancient languages at the Institut Catholique de Paris, he spent seven years studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he obtained a licence to teach Talmud in 1976. He has taught in Jerusalem at the Christian Centre for Jewish Studies (Saint Pierre de Sion – Ratisbonne). He has also taught at the Catholic Institutes of Paris and Lyon, the Institut für Kirche und Judentum in Berlin and the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem, as well as in various seminaries, religious communities, universities and parishes in many countries.
In 2004, Fr Pierre was awarded the Amitié Judéo Chrétienne de France prize for his life’s work.
His latest book, L’Unité de la Trinité. À l’Ecoute de la Tradition d’Israël was published in Paris in 2011 by Editions Paroles et Silence.
