8 Faithful is this word, and concerning these things I want you to strongly affirm, so that those who have believed in God may take thought to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
8 This is a faithful saying. And I want you to confirm these things, so that those who believe in God may take care to excel in good works. These things are good and useful to men.
9 But avoid foolish disputes and genealogies, and strifes and legal fights; for they are unprofitable and futile.
9 but shun foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strifes, and fightings about law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition,
10 Avoid a man who is a heretic, after the first and second correction,
10 After you have admonished the heretic once or twice shun him;
11 knowing that such a person has been perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned.
11 knowing that one who is like this has been subverted, and that he offends; for he has been condemned by his own judgment.
11 Knowing that he who is such is corrupt; he sins and condemns himself.
