For not by their own sword did they get the land in possession, neither did their own arm save them; but Thy right hand, and Thine arm, and the light of Thy countenance, because Thou wast favourable unto them.

For they inherited not the land by their own sword, and their own arm did not deliver them; but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou wert well pleased in them.

Ps43:3  For they did not take possession of the land by their sword, and their own arm did not save them. But your right hand and your arm, and the light of your countenance did so, because you were pleased with them.

Thou art my King, O God; command the salvation of Jacob.

Thou art indeed my King and my God, who commandest deliverances for Jacob.

Ps43:4  You yourself are my king and my God, who commands the salvation of Jacob.

Through Thee do we push down our adversaries; through Thy name do we tread them under that rise up against us.

In thee will we push down our enemies, and in thy name will we bring to nought them that rise up against us.

Ps43:5  With you, we will brandish a horn before our enemies; and in your name, we will spurn those rising up against us.

10  But thou makest us to be defeated; and our enemies have plundered us.

11  Thou hast given us like sheep to be eaten; and hast scattered us among the nations.

11  Thou madest us as sheep for meat; and thou scatteredst us among the nations.

Ps43:11  You have given us over like sheep for food. You have scattered us among the Gentiles.

12  Thou sellest Thy people for small gain, and hast not set their prices high.

12  Thou hast sold thy people without price, and there was no profit by their exchange.

Ps43:12  You have sold your people without a price, and no great number was exchanged for them.

M G S

13  Thou makest us a taunt to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

Ps43:13  You have set us as a disgrace to our neighbors, a scoff and a derision to those who are around us.

14  Thou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

14  Thou hast made us a proverb among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the nations.

Ps43:14  You have set us as a parable among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

17  All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten Thee, neither have we been false to Thy covenant.

17  All these things are come upon us: but we have not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt unrighteously in thy covenant.

Ps43:17  All these things have come upon us, yet we have not forgotten you, and we have not acted unjustly in your covenant.

18  Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Thy path;

18  And our heart has not gone back; but thou hast turned aside our paths from thy way.

18  We have not turned back, neither have we swerved our steps from thy way;

19  Though Thou hast crushed us into a place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

19  For thou hast laid us low in a place of affliction, and the shadow of death has covered us.

20  If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god;

20  If we have forgotten the name of our God, and if we have spread out our hands to a strange god; shall not God search these things out?

20  And yet we have not forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to stranger gods;

21  for he knows the secrets of the heart.

Ps43:21  will not God find this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart. For, because of you, we are being killed all day long. We are considered as sheep for the slaughter.

24  Wherefore hidest Thou Thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

Ps43:23  Why do you turn your face away, and why do you forget our needfulness and our tribulation?

24  Turn not thy face from us, and forget not our humiliation and our oppression;
