1 And Moses spoke unto the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying: This is the thing which YHWH hath commanded.
Nm30:2 And he said to the leaders of the tribes of the sons of Israel: “This is the word, which the Lord has instructed
2 When a man voweth a vow unto YHWH, or sweareth an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.
Nm30:3 If any man makes a vow to the Lord, or binds himself by an oath, he shall not make his word null and void, but all that he has promised, he shall fulfill.
3 Also when a woman voweth a vow unto YHWH, and bindeth herself by a bond, being in her father's house, in her youth,
Nm30:4 And if a woman shall vow a vow to the Lord, or bind herself with an obligation in her youth in her father’s house; and her father should hear her vows and her obligations, wherewith she has bound her soul, and her father should hold his peace at her, then all her vows shall stand,
3 If a woman also vows a vow to the LORD and binds herself by a bond while she is in her father's house in her youth,
4 and her father heareth her vow, or her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father holdeth his peace at her, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.
Nm30:5 and all the obligations with which she has bound her soul, shall remain to her.
Nm30:5 whatever she has promised or swore, she shall complete in deed.
5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth, none of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand; and YHWH will forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
6 And if she be married to a husband, while her vows are upon her, or the clear utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul;
Nm30:7 But if she should be indeed married, and her vows be upon her according to the utterance of her lips, in respect of the obligations which she has contracted upon her soul;
Nm30:7 If she has a husband, and she has vowed anything, then, once the word has gone out of her mouth, she will have obligated her soul by an oath.
7 and her husband hear it, whatsoever day it be that he heareth it, and hold his peace at her; then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.
Nm30:8 and her husband should hear, and hold his peace at her in the day in which he should hear, then thus shall all her vows be binding, and her obligations, which she has contracted upon her soul shall stand.
Nm30:8 On the day that her husband will hear of it, and yet not contradict it, she shall be liable to the vow, and she shall repay whatever she has promised.
8 But if her husband disallow her in the day that he heareth it, then he shall make void her vow which is upon her, and the clear utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul; and YHWH will forgive her.
Nm30:9 But if, as soon as he hears it, he contradicts it, then he will have caused her promises, and the words by which she had bound her soul, to be null and void. The Lord will be favorable to her.
9 But the vow of a widow, or of her that is divorced, even every thing wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand against her.
Nm30:10 And the vow of a widow and of her that is put away, whatsoever she shall bind upon her soul, shall stand to her.
Nm30:10 Widows and divorced women shall repay whatever they have vowed.
10 And if a woman vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath,
Nm30:11 If a wife in the house of her husband has bound herself by a vow or an oath,
11 and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
Nm30:12 if her husband heard it and remained silent, and he did not contradict the promise, she shall repay what she had promised.
12 But if her husband make them null and void in the day that he heareth them, then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips, whether it were her vows, or the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and YHWH will forgive her.
Nm30:13 But if her husband should utterly cancel the vow in the day in which he shall hear it, none of the things which shall proceed out of her lips in her vows, and in the obligations contracted upon her soul, shall stand to her; her husband has cancelled them, and the Lord shall hold her guiltless.
Nm30:13 But if he promptly contradicts it, she shall not be held liable to the promise. For her husband has contradicted it. And the Lord will be favorable to her.
13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may let it stand, or her husband may make it void.
Nm30:14 If she has vowed or bound herself by oath, in order to afflict her soul by fasting, or by abstaining from other things, it shall be for the arbitration of her husband, as to whether or not she may do it.
14 But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day, then he causeth all her vows to stand, or all her bonds, which are upon her; he hath let them stand, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.
Nm30:15 But if he be wholly silent at her from day to day, then shall he bind upon her all her vows; and he shall confirm to her the obligations which she has bound upon herself, because he held his peace at her in the day in which he heard her.
Nm30:15 But if the husband, upon hearing it, remains silent, and he delays judgment until another day, whatever she had vowed or promised, she shall repay, because when he first heard it, he remained silent.
15 But if he shall make them null and void after that he hath heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity.
Nm30:16 And if her husband should in any wise cancel them after the day in which he heard them, then he shall bear his iniquity.
Nm30:16 And if he contradicted it only sometime after he had known about it, he shall bear his iniquity.”
16 These are the statutes, which YHWH commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, being in her youth, in her father's house.
Nm30:17 These are the ordinances which the Lord commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, and between a father and daughter in her youth in the house of her father.
Nm30:17 These are the laws which the Lord has appointed to Moses, between a husband and a wife, between a father and a daughter, who is still in the state of childhood or who remains in her father’s house.
