The word of YHWH that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.

Jer29:1  THUS SAITH THE LORD AGAINST THE PHILISTINES;

Thus saith YHWH: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and they shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and them that dwell therein; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.

Jer29:2  Behold, waters come up from the north, and shall become a sweeping torrent, and it shall sweep away the land, and its fulness; the city, and them that dwell in it: and men shall cry and all that dwell in the land shall howl,

At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers look not back to their children for feebleness of hands;

before the uproar of a procession of weapons and of his soldiers, before the commotion of his four-horse chariots and the multitude of his wheels. The fathers have not looked back for the sons, because of feebleness of hands,

Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Zidon every helper that remaineth; for YHWH will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

Jer29:4  in the day that is coming to destroy all the Philistines: and I will utterly destroy Tyre and Sidon and all the rest of their allies: for the Lord will destroy the remaining inhabitants of the islands.

because of the arrival of the day on which all the Philistines will be devastated, and Tyre and Sidon will be destroyed, with all the rest of their helpers. For the Lord has depopulated the Philistines, the remnant of the island of Cappadocia.

Slaughter has reached to Gaza, Ashkalon is destroyed, and all that is left of their habitation is taken.

O thou sword of YHWH, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? Put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.

Jer29:6  How long wilt thou smite, O sword of the Lord? how long will it be ere thou art quiet? return into thy sheath, rest, and be removed. - How shall it be quiet, whereas the Lord has given it a commission against Ascalon, and against the regions on the sea-coast, to awake against the remaining countries!

How canst thou be quiet? for YHWH hath given it a charge; against Ashkelon, and against the sea-shore, there hath He appointed it.

But how can it find rest, when the Lord has ordered it against Ashkelon and against its maritime regions, and when a task has been appointed to it there?”

How can it be quiet, when the LORD has given it a charge against Ashkalon and against the coastal cities? For against these places he has decreed punishment.
