and said unto Jeremiah the prophet: 'Let, we pray thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto YHWH thy God, even for all this remnant; for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us;

Jer49:2  to Jeremias the prophet, and said to him, Let now our supplication come before thy face, and pray thou to the Lord thy God for this remnant; for we are left few out of many, as thine eyes see.

And said to Jeremiah, We beseech you, pray for us before the LORD your God, for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes see us;

that YHWH thy God may tell us the way wherein we should walk, and the thing that we should do.'

Jer49:3  And let the Lord thy God declare to us the way wherein we should walk, and the thing which we should do.

And so, may the Lord your God announce to us the way that we must travel, and the word that we must accomplish.”

Jer49:4  And Jeremias said to them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray for you to the Lord our God, according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever word the Lord God shall answer, I will declare it to you; I will not hide anything from you.

Then they said to Jeremiah: 'YHWH be a true and faithful witness against us, if we do not even according to all the word wherewith YHWH thy God shall send thee to us.

Jer49:5  And they said to Jeremias, Let the Lord be between us for a just and faithful witness, if we do not according to every word which the Lord shall send to us.

Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will hearken to the voice of YHWH our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we hearken to the voice of the YHWH our God.'

Jer49:6  And whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will hearken to the voice of the Lord our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, because we shall hearken to the voice of the Lord our God.

Whether it is for good or for harm, we will obey the voice of the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you. So may it be well with us, when we heed the voice of the Lord our God.”

10  If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I repent Me of the evil that I have done unto you.

10  If you dwell quietly in this land, I will build you up, and I will not tear you down. I will plant you, and I will not uproot you. For now I have been appeased by the harm that I have done to you.

11  Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, saith YHWH; for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.

11  Do not be afraid before the face of the king of Babylon, whom you have dreaded with great fear. Do not dread him, says the Lord. For I am with you, so that I may accomplish your salvation, and so that I may rescue you from his hand.

12  And I will grant you compassion, that he may have compassion upon you, and cause you to return to your own land.

Jer49:12  And I will grant you mercy, and pity you, and will restore you to your land.

12  And I will give you mercies, and I will take pity on you, and I will cause you to live in your own land.

13  But if ye say: We will not abide in this land; so that ye hearken not to the voice of YHWH your God;

13  But if you say, We will not dwell in this land, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God,

14  saying: No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the horn, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we abide;

Jer49:14  for we will go into the land of Egypt, and we shall see no war, and shall not hear the sound of a trumpet, and we shall not hunger for bread; and there we will dwell

14  saying: ‘Never! Instead, we will travel to the land of Egypt, where we will not see war, and we will not hear the blast of the trumpet, and we will not endure famine. And there we shall live.’

15  now therefore hear ye the word of YHWH, O remnant of Judah: Thus saith the YHWH of hosts, the God of Israel: If ye wholly set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there;

Jer49:15  then hear the word of the Lord; thus saith the Lord;

15  Because of this, hear now the word of the Lord, O remnant of Judah: Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: If you set your faces so as to advance into Egypt, and if you enter so that you may live there,

16  then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye fear, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye are afraid, shall follow hard after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.

Jer49:16  If ye set your face toward Egypt, and go in there to dwell; then it shall be, that the sword which ye fear shall find you in the land of Egypt, and the famine to which ye have regard, shall overtake you, coming after you in Egypt; and there ye shall die.

16  the sword which you dread will overtake you there, in the land of Egypt, and the famine, about which you are anxious, will cling to you in Egypt, and there you shall die.

17  So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.

Jer49:17  And all the men, and all the strangers who have set their face toward the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall be consumed by the sword, and by the famine: and there shall not one of them escape from the evils which I bring upon them.

17  And all the men, who have set their faces so that they may advance to Egypt in order to live there, will die by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence. None of them will remain, nor will they escape from the face of the evil that I will bring over them.

18  For thus saith YHWH of hosts, the God of Israel: As Mine anger and My fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall My fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt; and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.

Jer49:18  For thus saith the Lord; As my wrath has dropped upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall my wrath drop upon you, when ye have entered into Egypt: and ye shall be a desolation, and under the power of others, and a curse and a reproach: and ye shall no more see this place.

18  For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Just as my fury and my indignation has been enflamed over the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so will my indignation be enflamed over you, when you will have entered into Egypt. And so you will be an oath, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a disgrace. And you will never see this place again.

19  YHWH hath spoken concerning you, O remnant of Judah: Go ye not into Egypt; know certainly that I have forewarned you this day.

Jer49:19  These are the words which the Lord has spoken concerning you the remnant of Juda; Enter ye not into Egypt: and now know ye for a certainty,

19  This is the word of the Lord concerning you, O remnant of Judah: Do not choose to enter into Egypt, for certainly you understand what I have sworn to you this day.

20  For ye have dealt deceitfully against your own souls; for ye sent me unto YHWH your God, saying: Pray for us unto the YHWH our God; and according unto all that the LORD our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it;

Jer49:20  that ye have wrought wickedness in your hearts, when ye sent me, saying, Pray thou for us to the Lord; and according to all that the Lord shall speak to thee we will do.

20  For you have deceived your own souls. For you have sent me to the Lord our God, saying: ‘Pray on our behalf to the Lord our God. And in accord with anything whatsoever that the Lord our God will tell you, announce this to us, and we will do it.’

21  and I have this day declared it to you; but ye have not hearkened to the voice of YHWH your God in any thing for which He hath sent me unto you.

22  Now therefore know certainly that ye shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to go to sojourn there.'

Jer49:22  Now therefore ye shall perish by sword and by famine, in the place which ye desire to go into to dwell there.

22  Therefore, know with certainty now, that you will die by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence, in the place which you wish to enter so that you may live there.”
