1 Thus saith YHWH to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him, and to loose the loins of kings; to open the doors before him, and that the gates may not be shut
1 Thus saith the Lord God to my anointed Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, that nations might be obedient before him; and I will break through the strength of kings; I will open doors before him, and cities shall not be closed.
1 Thus says the Lord to my anointed Cyrus, whose right hand I hold, so that I may subjugate the nations before his face, and I may turn the backs of kings, and I may open the doors before him, and so that the gates will not be shut.
2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the doors of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron;
2 I will go before thee, and will level mountains: I will break to pieces brazen doors, and burst iron bars.
2 I will go before you. And I will humble the glorious ones of the earth. I will shatter the gates of brass, and I will break apart the bars of iron.
3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I am YHWH, who call thee by thy name, even the God of Israel.
3 And I will give you hidden treasures and the knowledge of secret things, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls your name.
4 For the sake of Jacob My servant, and Israel Mine elect, I have called thee by thy name, I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known Me.
5 I am YHWH, and there is none else, beside Me there is no God; I have girded thee, though thou hast not known Me;
5 For I am the Lord God, and there is no other God beside me; I strengthened thee, and thou hast not known me.
5 I am the Lord, and there is no one else. There is no god beside me. I girded you, and you have not known me.
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside Me; I am YHWH; and there is none else;
6 That they that come from the east and they that come from the west may know that there is no God but me. I am the Lord God, and there is none beside.
6 So may those who are from the rising of the sun, and those who are from its setting, know that there is no one beside me. I am the Lord, and there is no other.
7 I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I am YHWH, that doeth all these things.
7 I am he that prepared light, and formed darkness; who make peace, and create evil; I am the Lord God, that does all these things.
7 I form light and create darkness; I make peace and create hardship; I the LORD do all these things.
8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness; let the earth open, that they may bring forth salvation, and let her cause righteousness to spring up together; I YHWH have created it.
8 Let the heaven rejoice from above, and let the clouds rain righteousness: let the earth bring forth, and blossom with mercy, and bring forth righteousness likewise: I am the Lord that created thee.
8 Send down dew from above, O heavens, and let the clouds rain down upon the just! Let the earth open and spring forth a savior! And let justice rise up at once! I, the Lord, have created him.
9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker, as a potsherd with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him that fashioned it: 'What makest thou?' Or: 'Thy work, it hath no hands'?
9 What excellent thing have I prepared as clay of the potter? Will the ploughman plough the earth all day? shall the clay say to the potter, What art thou doing that thou dost not work, nor hast hands? shall the thing formed answer him that formed it?
9 Woe to him who contradicts his Maker, a mere shard from an earthen vessel! Should the clay say to the potter, “What are you making?” or, “Your work is not made by your hands?”
10 Woe unto him that saith unto his father: 'Wherefore begettest thou?' Or to a woman: 'Wherefore travailest thou?'
10 As though one should say to his father, What wilt thou beget me? and to his mother, What art thou bringing forth?
10 Woe to him who says to his father, “Why did you conceive?” or to a woman, “Why did you give birth?”
11 Thus saith YHWH, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: Ask Me of the things that are to come; concerning My sons, and concerning the work of My hands, command ye Me.
11 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, who has formed the things that are to come, Enquire of me concerning my sons, and concerning the works of my hands command me.
11 Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, his Maker: Would you question me about the future, concerning my sons, and command me concerning the work of my hands?
12 I, even I, have made the earth, and created man upon it; I, even My hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
12 I have made the earth, and man upon it: I with my hand have established the heaven; I have given commandment to all the stars.
12 I made the earth, and I created man upon it. My hand stretched out the heavens, and I have commanded all their hosts.
13 I have roused him up in victory, and I make level all his ways; he shall build My city, and he shall let Mine exiles go free, not for price nor reward, saith YHWH of hosts.
13 I have raised him up to be a king with righteousness, and all his ways are right: he shall build my city, and shall turn the captivity of my people, not for ransoms, nor for rewards, saith the Lord of hosts.
13 I have stirred man up in righteousness, and I will make smooth all his ways; he shall build my city and shall send my exiles back, not for a price nor for a bribe, says the LORD of hosts.
14 Thus saith YHWH: The labour of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine; they shall go after thee, in chains they shall come over; and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee: Surely God is in thee, and there is none else, there is no other God.
14 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Egypt has laboured for thee; and the merchandise of the Ethiopians, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall pass over to thee, and shall be thy servants; and they shall follow after thee bound in fetters, and shall pass over to thee, and shall do obeisance to thee, and make supplication to thee: because God is in thee; and there is no God beside thee, O Lord.
14 Thus says the Lord: The labor of Egypt, and the business dealings of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature, will pass to you and will be yours. They will walk behind you. They will travel, bound in irons. And they will adore you and petition you: “In you alone is God, and there is no God apart from you.
15 Verily Thou art a God that hidest Thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
15 For thou art God, yet we knew it not, the God of Israel, the Saviour.
15 Truly, you are a hidden God, the God of Israel, the Savior.”
16 They shall be ashamed, yea, confounded, all of them; they shall go in confusion together that are makers of idols.
16 All that are opposed to him shall be ashamed and confounded, and shall walk in shame: ye isles, keep a feast to me.
16 They who walk in confusion and make idols are all ashamed and confounded together;
17 O Israel, that art saved by YHWH with an everlasting salvation; ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
17 Israel is saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation: they shall not be ashamed nor confounded for evermore.
17 But the salvation of Israel is by the LORD, the Saviour of the world; you shall not be ashamed nor confounded for ever and ever.
18 For thus saith YHWH that created the heavens, He is God; that formed the earth and made it, He established it, He created it not a waste, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the YHWH, and there is none else.
18 For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens, God himself who formed the earth and made it, the very Molder of it. He did not create it to no purpose. He formed it so that it would be inhabited. I am the Lord, and there is no other.
19 I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness; I said not unto the seed of Jacob: 'Seek ye Me in vain'; I YHWH speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
20 Assemble yourselves and come, draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations; they have no knowledge that carry the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
20 Assemble yourselves, and approach, and draw near together, you who have been saved among the Gentiles. They lack knowledge, who lift up the wood of their sculpture, and who petition a god unable to save.
21 Declare ye, and bring them near, yea, let them take counsel together: Who hath announced this from ancient time, and declared it of old? Have not I YHWH? And there is no God else beside Me, a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside Me.
21 Announce it, and approach, and consult together. Who has caused this to be heard from the beginning, and who has foretold it from that time? Is it not I, the Lord? And is there some other god beside me? I am a just God who saves, and there is no one except me.
22 Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else.
22 Turn ye to me, and ye shall be saved, ye that come from the end of the earth: I am God, and there is none other.
23 By Myself have I sworn, the word is gone forth from My mouth in righteousness, and shall not come back, that unto Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
23 By myself I swear, righteousness shall surely proceed out of my mouth; my words shall not be frustrated;
24 that to me every knee shall bend, and every tongue shall swear by God,
23 I have sworn by myself. The Word of justice will proceed from my mouth, and it will not turn back.
24 For every knee shall bend to me, and every tongue shall swear it.
24 Only in YHWH, shall one say of Me, is victory and strength; even to Him shall men come in confusion, all they that were incensed against Him.
24 saying, Righteousness and glory shall come to him: and all that remove them from their borders shall be ashamed.
25 In YHWH shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
25 By the Lord shall they be justified, and in God shall all the seed of the children of Israel be glorified.
25 In the Lord, all the offspring of Israel will be justified and praised.
