31  And YHWH saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.

31  And when the Lord God saw that Lea was hated, he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.

31  But the Lord, seeing that he despised Leah, opened her womb, but her sister remained barren.

32  And Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben; for she said: 'Because YHWH hath looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me.'

32  And Lea conceived and bore a son to Jacob; and she called his name, Ruben; saying, Because the Lord has looked on my humiliation, and has given me a son, now then my husband will love me.

32  Having conceived, she gave birth to a son, and she called his name Reuben, saying: “The Lord saw my humiliation; now my husband will love me.”
