Then a spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of YHWH'S house, which looketh eastward; and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; and I saw in the midst of them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

Moreover the Spirit took me up, and brought me to the front gate of the house of the Lord, that looks eastward: and behold at the entrance of the gate were about five and twenty men; and I saw in the midst of them Jechonias the son of Ezer, and Phaltias the son of Banaeas, the leaders of the people.

And He said unto me: 'Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and that give wicked counsel in this city;

And the Lord said to me, Son of man, these are the men that devise vanities, and take evil counsel in this city

Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.

You have killed very many in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain.

Therefore thus saith YHWH GOD: Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron; but ye shall be brought forth out of the midst of it.

Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Your slain, whom you have placed in its midst, these are the meat, and this city is the cooking pot. And I will draw you out of its midst.

Ye have feared the sword; and the sword will I bring upon you, saith YHWH GOD.

Ye fear the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord.

You have dread the sword, and so I will lead the sword over you, says the Lord God.

And I will bring you forth out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

10  Ye shall fall by the sword: I will judge you upon the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am YHWH.

10  You will fall by the sword. I will judge you within the borders of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord.

11  Though this city shall not be your caldron, ye shall be the flesh in the midst thereof; I will judge you upon the border of Israel;

11  This city will not be a cooking pot for you, and you will not be like meat in its midst. I will judge you within the borders of Israel.

11  This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall you be the meat in the midst of it; but I will judge you in the border of Israel;

12  and ye shall know that I am YHWH; for ye have not walked in My statutes, neither have ye executed Mine ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you.'

12  And you shall know that I am the Lord. For you have not walked in my precepts, and you have not accomplished my judgments. Instead, you have acted in accord with the judgments of the Gentiles, who are all around you.”

13  And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said: 'Ah Lord GOD! wilt Thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?'

13  And it happened that, when I prophesied, Pelatiah, the son of Benaiah, died. And I fell upon my face, and I cried out with a loud voice, and I said: “Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God! Will you cause the consummation of the remnant of Israel?”
