Deuteronomy 27:1–26

And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying: 'Keep all the commandment which I command you this day.

And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over the Jordan unto the land which YHWH thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster.

And when you have crossed over the Jordan, into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, you shall erect immense stones, and you shall coat them with plaster,

And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over; that thou mayest go in unto the land which YHWH thy God giveth thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the YHWH, the God of thy fathers, hath promised thee.

so that you may be able to write upon them all the words of this law, when you have crossed the Jordan so as to enter into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as he swore to your fathers.

And it shall be when ye are passed over the Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.

Therefore, when you have crossed over the Jordan, erect the stones, just as I instruct you to do this day, on Mount Ebal. And you shall coat them with plaster,

And there shalt thou build an altar unto YHWH thy God, an altar of stones; thou shalt lift up no iron tool upon them.

and you shall build, in that place, an altar to the Lord your God out of stones which have not been touched by iron,

Thou shalt build the altar of YHWH thy God of unhewn stones; and thou shalt offer burnt-offerings thereon unto the YHWH thy God.

out of stones which have not been hewn or polished. And you shall offer holocausts on it to the Lord your God.

You shall build the altar of the LORD your God of undressed stones, and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God

And thou shalt sacrifice peace-offerings, and shalt eat there; and thou shalt rejoice before YHWH thy God.

And you shall immolate peace victims. And you shall eat and feast in that place, in the sight of the Lord your God.

And you shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there and rejoice before the LORD your God.

And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.'

And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law, plainly and clearly.”

And Moses and the priests the Levites spoke unto all Israel, saying: 'Keep silence, and hear, O Israel; this day thou art become a people unto YHWH thy God.

10  Thou shalt therefore hearken to the voice of YHWH thy God, and do His commandments and His statutes, which I command thee this day.'

10  And thou shalt hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and shalt do all his commands, and his ordinances, as many as I command thee this day.

10  You shall listen to his voice, and you shall do the commandments and justices, which I am entrusting to you.”

11  And Moses charged the people the same day, saying

12  'These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are passed over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin;

12  These shall stand to bless the people on mount Garizin having gone over Jordan; Symeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

12  These tribes shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people when you have crossed the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin;

13  and these shall stand upon mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

13  And in the opposite region, there shall stand upon Mount Ebal, as a curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

14  And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice

15  Cursed be the man that maketh a graven or molten image, an abomination unto YHWH, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and setteth it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say: Amen.

15  Cursed is the man whosoever shall make a graven or molten image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of craftsmen, and shall put it in a secret place: and all the people shall answer and say, So be it.

16  Cursed be he that dishonoureth his father or his mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.

17  Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say: Amen.

18  Cursed be he that maketh the blind to go astray in the way. And all the people shall say: Amen.

19  Cursed be he that perverteth the justice due to the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say: Amen.

19  Cursed is every one that shall pervert the judgement of the stranger, and orphan, and widow: and all the people shall say, So be it.

20  Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he hath uncovered his father's skirt. And all the people shall say: Amen.

20  Cursed be he who lies with his father’s wife, and so exposes the covering of his bed. And all the people shall say: Amen.

21  Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say: Amen.

22  Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.

22  Cursed is he that lies with his sister by his father or his mother: and all the people shall say, So be it.

23  Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say: Amen.

23  Cursed is he that lies with his daughter-in-law: and all the people shall say, So be it. Cursed is he that lies with his wife’s sister: and all the people shall say, So be it.

24  Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour in secret. And all the people shall say: Amen.

25  Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say: Amen.

25  Cursed is he whosoever shall have taken a bribe to slay an innocent man: and all the people shall say, So be it.

25  Cursed be he who accepts gifts in order to strike down the life of innocent blood. And all the people shall say: Amen.

26  Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say: Amen.'

26  Cursed is every man that continues not in all the words of this law to do them: and all the people shall say, So be it.

26  Cursed be he who does not remain in the words of this law, and does not carry them out in deed. And all the people shall say: Amen.”
