3 And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of YHWH, saying.
3 Then, in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe of the temple of the Lord, saying to him
4 'Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of YHWH, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people;
4 Go up to Chelcias the high priest, and take account of the money that is brought into the house of the Lord, which they that keep the door have collected of the people.
4 “Go to Hilkiah, the high priest, so that the money may be put together which has been brought into the temple of the Lord, which the doorkeepers of the temple have collected from the people.
5 and let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of YHWH; and let them give it to the workmen that are in the house of the YHWH, to repair the breaches of the house;
5 And let it be given, by those in charge of the house of the Lord, to the workers. And let them distribute it to those who are working in the temple of the Lord in order to repair the surfaces of the temple,
6 unto the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons; and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the house.'--
6 even to the carpenters, and builders, and masons, and also to purchase timber and hewn stones, to repair the breaches of the house.
6 specifically, to carpenters and masons, and to those who mend gaps, and so that wood may be purchased, and stones from the quarries, in order to repair the temple of the Lord.
7 Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully.
7 Only they did not call them to account for the money that was given to them, because they dealt faithfully.
7 Yet truly, let no account be given by them of the money that they receive. Instead, let them have it within their power and trust.”
8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe: 'I have found the book of the Law in the house of YHWH.' And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
8 Then Hilkiah, the high priest, said to Shaphan, the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord.” And Hilkiah gave the volume to Shaphan, and he read it.
9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought back word unto the king, and said: 'Thy servants have poured out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of YHWH.'
9 And he went into the house of the Lord to the king, and reported the matter to the king, and said, Thy servants have collected the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have given it into the hand of the workmen that are appointed in the house of the Lord.
9 Also, Shaphan, the scribe, went to the king, and reported to him what he had instructed. And he said: “Your servants have brought together the money which was found in the house of the Lord. And they have given it so that it would be distributed to the workers by the overseers of the works of the temple of the Lord.”
10 And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying: 'Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book.' And Shaphan read it before the king.
10 Also, Shaphan, the scribe, explained to the king, saying, “Hilkiah, the priest, gave the book to me.” And when Shaphan had read it before the king,
