15 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life; and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in the wood.
16 And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
16 And Jonathan, the son of Saul, rose up and went to David in the woods, and he strengthened his hands in God. And he said to him
17 And he said unto him: 'Fear not; for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.'
17 “Do not be afraid. For the hand of my father, Saul, will not find you. And you shall reign over Israel. And I will be second to you. And even my father knows this.”
17 And he said to him, Fear not; for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you; and you shall be king over Israel, and I shall be with you, and you shall live; and even Saul my father knows that it is so.
18 And they two made a covenant before YHWH; and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.
18 So they both made a covenant before the Lord; and David dwelt in Caene, and Jonathan went to his home.
18 Therefore, they both struck a pact before the Lord. And David stayed in the woods. But Jonathan returned to his house.
