1 Be imitators of me, just as I also [am] of Christ.
1 TAKE example by me, even as I also fol low Christ.
1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2 Now I praise you, brothers, because you remember me in all things, and you hold fast the traditions just as I handed down to you.
2 Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.
3 But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
3 So I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ. But the head of woman is man. Yet truly, the head of Christ is God.
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the wife is her husband; and the head of Christ is God.
4 Every man who prays or who prophesies with his head covered, dishonors his head.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth his head.
5 But every woman who prays or who prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her own head, for that is one and the same as if her [head] were shaved.
5 But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoreth her head; for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven.
5 And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered, dishonors her head: for she is equal to her whose head is shaven.
6 For if a woman is not covered, let her also have her hair cut. But if it is a shameful [thing ]for a woman to have her hair cut, or to be shaved, let her be covered.
6 So if a woman is not veiled, let her hair be cut off. Truly then, if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off, or to have her head shaven, then she should cover her head.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.
7 Certainly, a man ought not to cover his head, for he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man.
8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man.
8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man
8 For the man was not created from the woman; but the woman was created from the man.
9 Nor was man created for woman, but woman for the man.
9 for neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man
9 And indeed, man was not created for woman, but woman was created for man.
10 Because of this, the woman ought to have a [symbol] [of] authority on her head, because of the angels.
10 Therefore, a woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the Angels.
10 For this reason the woman ought to be modest and cover her head, as a mark of respect to the angels.
11 Nevertheless, neither is the man apart from the woman, nor the woman apart from the man, in YHWH.
11 Yet truly, man would not exist without woman, nor would woman exist without man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is from the man, even so the man is by the woman; but all things are of God.
12 For just as woman came into existence from man, so also does man exist through woman. But all things are from God.
13 Judge among yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God uncovered?
13 Judge ye in yourselves: is it seemly that a woman pray unto God unveiled?
13 Judge for yourselves, Is it comely for a woman to pray to God with uncovered head?
14 Does not nature itself teach you, that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?
14 Does not even nature herself teach you that, indeed, if a man grows his hair long, it is a disgrace for him?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory for her; because her long hair has been given [to her] in place of a covering.
15 Yet truly, if a woman grows her hair long, it is a glory for her, because her hair has been given to her as a covering.
16 But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.
16 But if any man dispute these things, we have no precedent, neither has the church of God.
17 Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, because you are not coming together for the better, but for the worse.
17 Now I caution you, without praising, about this: that you assemble together, and not for better, but for worse.
17 Now I give you these commands, not to praise you, for you have not made progress but have become worse.
18 For first of all, when you come together in church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.
18 First of all, indeed, I hear that when you assemble together in the church, there are schisms among you. And I believe this, in part.
19 For there must also be sects among you, in order that those who are approved may become recognized among you.
19 For controversies are bound to be among you, that those who are approved may be made manifest among you.
20 Therefore when you assemble in the same [place], it is not to eat YHWH's Supper.
20 And so, when you assemble together as one, it is no longer in order to eat the Lord’s supper.
21 For when you eat, each one takes first his own supper, and one goes hungry and another is drunk!
21 For each one first takes his own supper to eat. And as a result, one person is hungry, while another is inebriated.
21 But some men eat their supper before others: and so it happens that one is hungry and another is drunken.
22 What? Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God, and disgrace those who do not have? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you!
22 What, have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and put them to shame that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you? In this I praise you not.
22 Do you not have houses, in which to eat and drink? Or do you have such contempt for the Church of God that you would confound those who do not have such contempt? What should I say to you? Should I praise you? I am not praising you in this.
23 For I received from YHWH that which I also delivered unto you: that the Lord Jesus, during the night in which He was betrayed, took bread;
23 For I have received from the Lord what I have also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus, on the same night that he was handed over, took bread,
23 For I myself received from our LORD that which I also delivered to you, That our LORD Jesus on that very night in which he was betrayed took bread
24 and having given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which has been broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
24 and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, This is my body, which is for you: this do in remembrance of me.
24 and giving thanks, he broke it, and said: “Take and eat. This is my body, which shall be given up for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
25 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim YHWH's death until He comes.
26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord, until he returns.
27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of YHWH irreverently will be guilty of the body of the Lord and of the blood of the Lord.
27 And so, whoever eats this bread, or drinks from the cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be liable of the body and blood of the Lord.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and in this way let him eat from the bread and drink from the cup.
28 For this reason, let a man examine himself, and so eat of this bread, and drink of this cup.
29 For he that eats and drinks irreverently eats and drinks judgment to himself, not judging correctly the body of YHWH.
29 For whoever eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks a sentence against himself, not discerning it to be the body of the Lord.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 Because of this many among you are weak and sick, and many have died.
30 As a result, many are weak and sick among you, and many have fallen asleep.
30 This is the reason many are sick and ill among you, and many are dying.
31 For if we judge ourselves correctly, we would not be judged.
31 But if we discerned ourselves, we should not be judged.
31 But if we ourselves were discerning, then certainly we would not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are disciplined by YHWH, in order that we may not be condemned along with the world.
32 Yet when we are judged, we are being corrected by the Lord, so that we might not be condemned along with this world.
33 Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.
33 And so, my brothers, when you assemble together to eat, be attentive to one another.
34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will put in order when I come.
34 If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you may not assemble together unto judgment. As for the rest, I will set it in order when I arrive.
34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; so that you may not come together unto condemnation. As to the rest of the things I will instruct you when I come.
