The Bible in Its Traditions

1 Chronicles 7:20–29

20  And the sons of Ephraim: Shuthelah--and Bered was his son, and Tahath his son, and Eleadah his son, and Tahath his son,

21  and Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son--and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath that were born in the land slew, because they came down to take away their cattle.

21  and his son was Shuthelah, and his son was Ezer, and also Elead. But the men indigenous to Gath killed them, because they had descended to invade their possessions.

22  And Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.

22  And so their father, Ephraim, mourned for many days; and his brothers arrived, so that they might console him.

23  And he went in to his wife, and she conceived, and bore a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.

23  And he entered to his wife; she conceived and bore a son. And he called his name Beriah, because he rose up during a time of evil for his house.

24  And his daughter was Sheerah, who built Beth-horon the nether and the upper, and Uzzen-sheerah.

24  And his daughter was Saraa, and he was among them that were left, and he built Baethoron the upper and the lower. And the descendants of Ozan were Seera,

24  (And her daughter escaped in lower and upper Beth-horon.)

25  And Rephah was his son, and Resheph, and Telah his son, and Tahan his son;

25  and Raphe his son, Saraph and Thalees his sons, Thaen his son.

25  And all those who escaped were healed by her daughter; for she was a woman physician, and she healed the sick.

26  Ladan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son;

26  who conceived Ladan. And his son was Ammihud, who conceived Elishama,

27  Nun his son, Joshua his son.

27  from whom was born Nun, who had Joshua as a son.

27  Of the sons of Nun, the father of Hosea.

28  And their possessions and habitations were Beth-el and the towns thereof, and eastward Naaran, and westward Gezer, with the towns thereof; Shechem also and the towns thereof, unto Aiah and the towns thereof;

28  And their possession and their dwelling were Baethel and her towns, to the east Noaran, westward Gazer and her towns, and Sychem and her towns, as far as Gaza and her towns.

28  Now their possessions and habitations were: Bethel with her daughters, and toward the east, Naaran, and toward the western region, Gezer and her daughters, as well as Shechem with her daughters, as far as Ayyah with her daughters;

29  and by the borders of the children of Manasseh, Beth-shean and the towns thereof, Taanach and the towns thereof, Megiddo and the towns thereof, Dor and the towns thereof. In these dwelt the children of Joseph the son of Israel.

29  And as far as the borders of the sons of Manasse, Baethsaan and her towns, Thanach and her towns, Mageddo and her towns, Dor and her towns. In this the children of Joseph the son of Israel dwelt.

29  also, beside the sons of Manasseh, Bethshean and her daughters, Taanach and her daughters, Megiddo and her daughters, Dor and her daughters. In these places, there lived the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel.
